With a practice focused on civil litigation, health care law and employment law, Jerry concentrates his legal acumen and extensive experience in serving insurance carriers, medical facilities and practitioners, and employers.

He handles the defense of professional liability claims for attorneys and insurance agents, the defense of personal injury cases, insurance defense, and business litigation. He advises clients on employment matters and represents employers in the defense of employment claims. Jerry also advises and represents health care clients regarding the complex issues of health care laws.

Born in Pasadena (TX), and a Kansas convert, Jerry graduated summa cum laude from Washburn University and summa cum laude from Washburn University School of Law. He was an editor of the Washburn University Law Review. Admitted to practice in 1976.  Jerry has been with the firm since 1981. He has also been rated AV® Preeminent™by Martindale-Hubble®.

An active member of several professional associations, Jerry is a Past President of the Kansas Bar Association, serves on the KBA executive committee, and chairs the nominating committee. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was president of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel in 1991 and of the Kansas Association of Hospital Attorneys in 2000. He has served on the American College of Trial Lawyers’ Kansas State Committee. He also serves on both the County and State Bar Associations’ Ethics Committees, investigates ethical complaints against attorneys on behalf of those committees, and has sat on Hearing Panels for the Kansas Disciplinary Administrator’s Office.

Involved in the community and his church, Jerry has served on various non-profit boards in Hutchinson including the Kansas Cosmosphere and Space Center and the Hutchinson Community College Legal Assistant Advisory Committee, the Washburn University School of Law Alumni Association, Board of Governors, and his church board.
