Tracy Cole maintains an active statewide litigation practice with an emphasis on medical malpractice and insurance defense. She is noted for adeptly handling the complexities of cases involving commercial vehicle accidents as well as other defense work demanding perseverance and legal acumen.

While highly skilled in the courtroom, Tracy’s practice is founded on diligent research, developing the best discovery plans, and formulating the most effective strategies. She appears and has tried cases in both State and Federal Court, and has argued cases before the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Kansas Supreme Court. With her mediation training and experience, another facet of Tracy’s practice is serving as a mediator for confidential alternative dispute resolution.

A Kansas native, Tracy graduated from the University of Kansas in 1980 with a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration. She was comptroller for an ethanol company before deciding to attend law school. In 1989, she earned her J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law. Tracy began her legal career with Hershberger, Patterson, Jones & Roth in Wichita, and became a partner in the firm. She joined the firm in 1998.

Tracy is president of the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel board and is a member of the Wichita Bar Association’s Legislative Committee. Her civic involvement has included serving as a Girl Scout leader, truancy volunteer, board president of Roots & Wings, and board president of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Reno County.
